Position Overview
Location: Huntington Beach, California
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Travel: Domestic travel as required for supplier qualification, audits, sourcing activities, and strategic supplier development.
The Senior Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for establishing and scaling Volund's supply chain function, including supplier qualification, supplier compliance, strategic sourcing, production planning, and procurement operations required to support the company's transition from prototype development to production. This role will work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to build a resilient, scalable supply chain capable of supporting aerospace and defense manufacturing requirements.
This is a hands-on builder role for an individual who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys creating systems, processes, and supplier relationships from the ground up. Initially operating as an individual contributor, this position will play a critical role in shaping Volund's future supply chain organization, supplier network, and manufacturing readiness.
The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing long-term supply chain strategy, qualifying and developing suppliers, implementing planning and procurement processes, and executing day-to-day operational activities required to support a rapidly growing manufacturing organization.


Key Responsibilities

Systems & Process Development
  • Lead implementation and optimization of supply chain processes within Odoo ERP.
  • Develop supplier master data and procurement workflows.
  • Establish supply chain metrics and reporting.
  • Create scalable procurement, planning, and supplier management processes supporting future growth.
Supplier Compliance & Supply Chain Infrastructure
  • Establish supplier qualification and onboarding processes.
  • Build and maintain Volund's Approved Supplier List (ASL).
  • Coordinate supplier audits and supplier corrective action activities.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with aerospace and defense requirements.
  • Support implementation of AS9100-compliant supplier management processes.
  • Support supplier readiness for ITAR, DFARS, and CMMC requirements.
  • Develop supplier performance expectations and continuous improvement processes focused on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and production readiness.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development
  • Develop and execute Volund's supply chain strategy.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop suppliers supporting highly engineered products, manufacturing processes, and operational requirements.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, contracts, pricing, and commercial relationships.
  • Establish dual-source and risk mitigation strategies for critical suppliers and materials.
  • Develop supplier capacity plans supporting future production growth.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships while ensuring accountability to quality, delivery, and business objectives.
  • Strengthen supply chain resiliency by identifying, mitigating, and proactively managing supplier, material, capacity, and geopolitical risks.
Planning & Operations
  • Own material planning and inventory strategy.
  • Develop MRP processes and planning methodologies within Odoo ERP.
  • Create forecasting and supply planning processes.
  • Drive material availability to support engineering and production schedules.
  • Monitor and improve supplier on-time delivery performance.


Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of supply chain, sourcing, procurement, or operations experience.
  • Experience within aerospace, defense, space, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience building supply chain functions in high-growth manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes, systems, and supplier relationships within a startup or rapidly scaling manufacturing organization.
  • Experience sourcing complex engineered products, components, materials, and manufacturing services.
  • Strong understanding of MRP, inventory planning, and production scheduling.
  • Experience negotiating supplier agreements and strategic sourcing contracts.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities and a high degree of ownership.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR and eligible to work on programs subject to U.S. export control regulations.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting AS9100-certified manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with ITAR-controlled products and defense supply chains.
  • Experience implementing ERP systems, preferably Odoo.
  • Experience supporting CMMC, DFARS, and defense contractor requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting production scale-up from prototype through low-rate initial production.


Success in the First Year
Within the first 12 months, the Senior Supply Chain Manager will:
  • Establish and maintain Volund's Approved Supplier List (ASL) and supplier qualification process.
  • Develop supplier onboarding, audit, and compliance processes aligned with AS9100, ITAR, and future CMMC requirements.
  • Build strategic supplier relationships capable of supporting production scale-up.
  • Implement core procurement, planning, and MRP processes within Odoo ERP.
  • Improve material availability and planning discipline across engineering and production activities.
  • Establish the foundation for supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create scalable supply chain processes capable of supporting future organizational growth.
